Today we will be discussing about one of the 7 ordinary womens from Maharashtra with an extraordinary business.

The product is “lijjat papad” and The company name is Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat papad.

It is worth 1600 crore  and today it has 69 branches and 42,000 employees across 15 different countries.

They have started this business from Rs 80 which was funded from an NGO.





INTRODUCTION: 

  1. At the time when they started their business there was 8% women literacy rate

  2. Women were not allowed to work outside

  3. They have made an amazing and tasty product

  4. The primary goal was the Empowerment of women not the money

  5. Instead of hiring the women as employees or giving them salary, they have given them ownership and they called their employees as Lijjat sisters instead of calling them employees.  This is called collective ownership.


ACHIEVEMENTS: 

  1. They have build cost effective supply chain 

  2. Their quality production

  3. The work was suitable for producing products at their home as they used houses of sisters to produce their products.

  4. Supervisor visits For quality check

  5. Standard procedure to make purpose like giving them shape cutters etc

  6. Sticking to their mission and visions with the same principle of Sarvodaya means progress for all

  7. If they earn profit in the business, Instead of creating fortunes they spend  to enhance health and empower the literacy rate of their frontline workers and sisters regardless of their age, caste, religion and position in the organisation.
